Mezinárodní hudební festival
whose aim it is to bring top Czech and foreign performers to Třeboň and to offer visitors to the town music that at other times is only found on the most respected of Czech and world stages. Quality music played by well-known performers and the cosy atmosphere of the square or chateau in Třeboň combine to guarantee visitors to the festival an unforgettable, uplifting experience every year.
Allow me, together with my daughter, to wish all of you that are interested in music in Třeboň in South Bohemia a very Merry Christmas. We hope you are well, surrounded by those that you love and that love you. This is a time that should not become a mad rush for expensive gifts that we only think will make our nearest and dearest happy. Let’s hope that gathering here to listen to wonderful music performed by top-class artists from here and abroad will continue to provide us with joy. And that enjoying concerts fills us with the feeling of joy that comes from exceptional moments. In short, have a wonderful, uninterrupted Christmas.
We would also like to wish you a Happy New Year. We can look forward to a number of beautiful concerts as part of the 22nd year of the ABOKO Concert Season. In January, we return to the format of spoken word and music combined. Our audience will undoubtedly remember the evening, going by the name of Tónobraní, when featuring Prof. Jiří Hlaváč and his guests. This time we have invited Martina Kociánová, who has already presented summer concerts at the Třeboňská nocturna festival and who will be on hand to invite Mr. Petr Nárožný to take the stage of the J. K. Tyl Theatre. As with all previous Tónobraní, the evening will have a premier and a dernier.
The Trio del Diablo ensemble has been invited to play a concert in February and we believe that the music of Ástor Piazzolla in particular, but of other composers too, all performed in a slightly untraditional way, will find a whole host of admirers.
The closing concert is always of huge importance to how the whole cycle is viewed. This is one of the reasons that we have entrusted the task to Mihály Könyves-Tóth. This Hungarian trumpeter once enthralled our audience by appearing at the Church of St. Giles together with organist Jaroslav Tůma shortly after victory in the Prague Spring competition. His performance was outstanding. So we asked our Hungarian guest right after the concert about his next performance in Třeboň. And that will take place on 21 March 2019.
The “Třeboňská nocturna 2018” programme was filmed again this year in cooperation with Czech Television and will be screened sometime in winter. I am sure it will be a delightful return to July of this year and that we will all remember the magnificent performances of those taking part. We will let you know when the programme is to be broadcast right here on these pages.
We look forward to seeing you at our ABOKO Concert Season 2018 – 2019.
Your Irma Mrázková and Miloš Končický
