Mezinárodní hudební festival
whose aim it is to bring top Czech and foreign performers to Třeboň and to offer visitors to the town music that at other times is only found on the most respected of Czech and world stages. Quality music played by well-known performers and the cosy atmosphere of the square or chateau in Třeboň combine to guarantee visitors to the festival an unforgettable, uplifting experience every year.
Christmas is around the corner and the 21st year of Třeboňská nocturna Subscription Concerts has begun. The fact that we are able to keep the Třeboňská nocturna tradition “alive” is thanks to the interest shown by audiences and sponsors who remain faithful to us. Once a month, at time when the weather does not exactly lend itself to unrestrained cheerfulness it is wonderful to meet people who have probably said to themselves that they feel good surrounded by the music that we offer them at individual concerts. It is always a pleasure for us as the organisers of the concerts when at the end people leave happy and in a great mood and at least for a moment forgetting the many small or large problems that life has put in their way. We are very pleased when we see the effort that visitors have put into their clothes and their outer appearance (which is especially to be praised because it is no longer the rule for large concert halls). We greatly appreciate it.
It is good that the town’s leadership has decided to repair the interior of the theatre. This step will undoubtedly make it significantly easier to see everything that comes to us from the stage. And at upcoming concerts there will definitely be something worth listening to. Of course, the highlight for us all will be the performance by the Prague Philharmonic Choir a few days before Christmas Eve. To listen to Ryba’s Czech Christmas Mass as performed by the Prague Philharmonic Choir and under the leadership of principal conductor Lukáš Vasilek, with the support of seventeen members of the South Bohemian Philharmonic, will certainly be a great experience. So let’s look forward together to the concerts that will be held in Třeboň at the turn of 2017 and 2018.
Of course, we are also looking forward to seeing you, our dear audiences. I wish you a Happy Christmas and good health and good fortune to all your families in 2018.
Miloš Končický, Festival Director
