Mezinárodní hudební festival
whose aim it is to bring top Czech and foreign performers to Třeboň and to offer visitors to the town music that at other times is only found on the most respected of Czech and world stages. Quality music played by well-known performers and the cosy atmosphere of the square or chateau in Třeboň combine to guarantee visitors to the festival an unforgettable, uplifting experience every year.
Dear Friends of Třeboňská Nocturna! We are entering the period of the Třeboňská Nocturna Winter Season Concerts, which will be held this year for the 22nd time. This year’s dramaturgy is to be praised for a diverse concert composition that is sure to please the widest circle of listeners.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for 18 October of this year, and this concert simply must be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the foundation of our Republic. For this important occasion, we have also very much been looking for a significant, sufficiently representative ensemble. The Smetana Trio completely meets this criteria. This is a group that represents us with great successes on a number of important world stages. Even the selection of songs takes into account the meaning of this event.
Additional concerts are also sure to delight everyone who goes to see them. Names like Roman Janál, a leading member of the National Theater, will perform a song concert under the piano accompaniment of prof. Marián Lapšanský. This year, the December Christmas Concert was entrusted to Musica Bohemica led by Jaroslav Krček.
In January after the New Year, we will be returning to the format of the spoken word associated with music. Our listeners will surely remember this evening, called Tónobraní, performed by prof. Jiří Hlaváč and his guests. This time we asked for collaboration from Martina Kociánová, who is associated with Nocturna by hosting summer concerts. She will be inviting Mr Petr Nárožný to the stage of J. K. Tyl Theatre. Like all of the previous Tónobraní, this evening will have both a premiere and last performance.
The Trio del Diablo group received an invitation to the February concert, and we believe that primarily the music of Astor Piazzolla, as well as other composers in an unconventional composition, will find many admirers.
The final concert is always very important for the evaluation of the entire cycle. This is also why we entrusted this task to Mihály Könyves-Tóth. The Hungarian trumpeter astonished our audience some time ago when, just after his victory in the Prague Spring competition, he performed at the St. Giles’ Church (Kostel sv. Jiljí) live together with the organist Jaroslav Tůma. His performance was excellent. Immediately after the concert, we asked our Hungarian guest for his next performance in Třeboň, which will take place on 21 March 2019.
This year’s Třeboňská Nocturna 2018 programme was also recorded in cooperation with Czech Television (Česká televize) and its broadcast is planned for one of the autumn months. I believe that this will be a pleasant return to July of this year and will remind us of the great performances of all of the performers. We will inform you on this website when it will be included in the broadcast.
We look forward to seeing you at the Season Concerts 2018–2019.
Yours truly, Miloš Končický
